Seehorn-Lang Building
The Seehorn Storage & Transfer Company Building is a contributing structure in the West Downtown Spokane Historic Transportation Corridor National Historic District. Built in 1890, the building served as the warehouse for Swift & Company meat packers from 1898-1900. Prior to that, Spokane Storage Company occupied the site. Seehorn Storage & Transfer moved into the building around 1910 and remained for the next 15 years, when the building was remodeled and street-level storefronts were added. Two longtime occupants of the new storefronts were the Holland Furnace Company and Hoag X-ray Company, both of which moved in during the late 1920s and remained into the 1960s. The building now connects with the old Central Steam Heat Plant and is a part of Steam Plant Square, a renovated industrial complex housing office and commercial space in a unique setting.
The Seehorn-Lang Building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on its own merit in 1998 and as a contributing property in the West Downtown Historic Transportation Corridor in 1999.
