Erected in 1914, the Bauer House is a hallmark example of the Craftsman style.  Prominent Craftsman-style features include the home's low-slung, ground-hugging single-family house form with a low-pitched roof, widely overhanging eaves, exposed braces, decorative mortise-and-tenon joinery, and a battered brick-and-stone rubblemix foundation. Designed by noted Spokane architect Joseph T. Levesque, the home was built for Harvey Bauer, an employee of the Inland Refrigerator Works in Spokane, and his wife Mary.  The home retains excellent exterior and interior integrity in original location, design, materials, workmanship and association.
