The Heath Branch of the Carnegie Library is significant in the history of the Spokane Public Library system and served the surrounding community for nearly 70 years. Designed by prominent Spokane architect Julius Zittel, the Heath Branch also exhibits architectural significance.

The Heath Branch is listed on the National Register of Historic places as part of a multiple-property nomination that includes all of the Carnegie Libraries in in Washington State and Spokane (this also includes the East Side Branch, the Main Branch, and the North Monroe Branch).  It is also a contributing property in the Mission Avenue Historic District, which was listed on the National Register on 8/14/1986.
